The end of October saw our annual RAMSIS User Conference (RUC) take place in Dresden for the first time. The focus this year was on electromobility and the question of how it affects ergonomics in the vehicle and one of the highlights was a visit to the Volkswagen Transparent Factory.
Dr. Stefan Bratzel kicked off the Conference this year with a keynote lecture on the opportunities provided by electric mobility and the challenges involved. During the subsequent panel discussion, it became clear that there are still many unanswered questions, mainly concerning the necessary infrastructure and battery technology. However, a visit to the Volkswagen Transparent Factory with test drives afterwards showed what is already possible today. Our conclusion? Ergonomics will play a role in the further development of electric mobility, especially when it comes to new mobility concepts such as car sharing – because when many different people share vehicles, the interior design of these vehicles has to be more flexible.
Once again, the RUC provided numerous insights into our customers’ and partners’ current RAMSIS projects, plus those of our own team. One important topic for Human Solutions is the expansion of our own portfolio to include “Ergonomics as a service”, since we considerably expanded our consulting services last year. With the presentation of the RAMSIS Excellence Award, Human Solutions honored two young scientists for their research in 2019.
“The RUC was once again an important source of inspiration for us, says Anton Preiß, Director of Ergonomics. “As a service provider, we want to help our customers with their challenges in the best possible way. At the RUC we get a real insight into current projects and we also discuss issues much more intensively than we can during appointments in everyday life. We’re already looking forward to next year!”
